Product Bulk Upload
Quick Summary: Upload or update many products at once using an Excel template.
Overview
Product Bulk Upload lets you create or update many products in a single operation using an Excel spreadsheet. This is especially useful during initial setup or when adding a large batch of new products.
Three bulk operations are available: - Product Bulk Upload — create new products or update existing ones - Product Bulk Update — update specific fields on existing products - Upload Customs Values — update customs values across products
Quick Start
- Navigate to Inventory → Products
- Click the + menu and select Product Bulk Upload
- Click Download Template to get the Excel file
- Fill in your product data following the template columns
- Upload the completed file
- Review the validation results
- Click Submit to create/update the products

Download the Template
Click Download Template in the upload dialog. The template file is ItemTemplate.xlsx.
Template Columns
Required Columns

| Customs Value (USD) | Declared customs value per unit |
| Customs Description | Description for customs documents |
| Lithium Ion Battery (Y/N) | Whether the product contains batteries |
| Expiry Date (Y/N) | Whether the product has an expiration date |
| Liquid (Y/N) | Whether the product contains liquids |
| Packaging Type | How the item is packaged |
| Country of Manufacture | Country where the product is made |
| Unit QTY | Quantity per unit (typically 1 for base items) |
| Unit Type | The packaging level (Base, Inner Carton, Master Carton, Pallet) |
Note: UPC/EAN/MPN is required for base items.
Optional Columns

Multi-Line Products
To add multiple unit types (e.g., Base Item + Inner Carton) for the same product, use multiple rows with the same SKU but different Unit Type values:

Upload and Validate
- Click Choose File and select your completed template
- The system validates the file and shows any errors
- Fix any errors in the spreadsheet and re-upload
- When validation passes, click Submit to create the products
Warning: Products with duplicate SKUs will be updated, not duplicated. The upload merges data for existing SKUs.
Common Validation Errors
| Error | Cause | Fix |

| "SKU is required" | Empty SKU cell | Fill in a unique SKU for every row |
| "Harmonized Code is required" | Missing HS code | Add the correct HS code |
| "Invalid Unit Type" | Unrecognized unit type value | Use: Base Item, Inner Carton, Master Carton, or Pallet |
| "UPC is required" | Missing barcode for base item | Add UPC/EAN/MPN for base item rows |
| "Invalid country" | Country name not recognized | Use standard country names or ISO codes |
| "'Ship separately from others' can only be set for base items" | The column was used on a non-base item row | Only set this for Base Item rows. Remove from Inner Carton, Master Carton, or Pallet rows |
| "'Ship separately from others' cannot be set for Ship Ready items" | The item's packaging type is Ship Ready | Change the packaging type to a non-Ship-Ready type, or remove the column for this item |
| "CPSC Reference Set and Disclaimer are mutually exclusive" | Both CPSC Reference Set fields and a CPSC Disclaimer value were provided for the same product | Choose one: either fill in the CPSC Reference Set (Product ID, Certifier ID, Version ID) or select a CPSC Disclaimer. Remove the other group |

Product Bulk Update
Use Product Bulk Update to modify specific fields on existing products without re-uploading everything.
How to Update
- Click the + menu and select Product Bulk Update
- Click Download Template to get the update template
- Fill in the SKU column (identifier) and only the columns you want to change
- Upload the file and review validation
- Click Submit
Note: The SKU column is always required as the identifier. Include only the columns you want to update — omitted columns are left unchanged.
Tip: For Inner/Master Carton updates, include the Item Type column to identify which unit level to update.
Available Update Columns
The bulk update template includes the following optional columns in addition to the required SKU column. Include only the columns you want to modify:

Insurance Value Behavior
- Blank cell with the column present → clears the insurance value
- Column omitted entirely → leaves the current value unchanged
Upload Customs Values
Update customs values across multiple products using a dedicated template.
How to Update Customs Values
- Click the + menu and select Upload Customs Values
- Download the customs template (ItemCustomsTemplate.xlsx)
- Fill in SKU and updated customs fields
- Upload and submit
Workflows
Workflow: Initial Product Catalog Setup
When: Setting up your account with a full product catalog
Steps: 1. Download the product template from + → Product Bulk Upload 2. Fill in all products with required fields 3. For products with batteries or dangerous goods, set the Y/N columns accordingly 4. Upload the completed template 5. Review and fix any validation errors 6. Submit to create all products 7. Verify products in the product list
Result: Full product catalog created and ready for orders.
Workflow: Update Customs Values for a Product Line
When: Customs values changed for a group of products
Steps: 1. Download the customs template from Upload Customs Values 2. Enter the SKU and new Customs Value for each product 3. Upload and submit
Result: Customs values updated across selected products.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Solution |

| Upload fails with format error | Wrong file type or corrupted template | Download a fresh template and copy your data into it |
| Validation shows many "required field" errors | Template columns were renamed or removed | Use the original template headers exactly as downloaded |
| Product not updated after bulk update | SKU in file doesn't match existing product | Verify the SKU matches exactly (case-sensitive) |
| Customs values not changing | Column omitted vs blank cell confusion | Include the customs value column with the new values |
| "Ship separately from others" validation error | Column applied to non-base or Ship Ready item | Only set this column for base items that are not Ship Ready |
