The Moso region offers varied reef terrain over a compact area. Named sites below are possibilities from Abyss’s local guides. A booked place secures the published dive program; it does not secure a specific wreck, wall, depth, animal or day at a named site.

Will I dive the MV Belama?
It is a possible local site near Owen’s Reef, not a fixed inclusion. Its broken, coral-covered remains sit around 20 metres. The operator chooses a safe exterior route that suits the group and conditions; do not assume that entering any part of the wreck is planned or required.
Is the aircraft wreck on Moso Island?
The Trislander YJ-RV3 rests at roughly eight metres off nearby Lelepa Island. It is part of the wider Moso–Lelepa diving region, not a wreck on Moso itself. Confirm the day’s actual boat plan before treating it as a must-see; nearby does not mean guaranteed.
How deep is Paul’s Rock?
The sunlit crown starts around 2–5 metres and the southern wall continues beyond 35 metres. A diver can enjoy its upper reef without following the wall deep. The local guide sets the route and maximum depth for the conditions, certification and group; there is no reason to descend to the wall’s base.
Can an Open Water diver visit Paul’s Rock?
Potentially, on a suitable shallow profile. The local team reports that shelter from Efate and nearby Hat Island makes Paul’s Rock diveable on many days, while currents and sea conditions still determine access and route. An adult PADI Open Water Diver’s usual limit is 18 metres, or the shallower depth reached during training. The guide may choose a different reef for an individual or the boat.
Do I have to dive into a cave or wreck?
No. Overhead environments and penetration require suitable training, equipment, a planned route and local approval. A guided holiday’s mention of caves, swim-throughs or wrecks does not automatically include entering them. Tell Abyss if you prefer open-water reefs and exterior views.
Is every dive a boat dive?
The New Year package specifically advertises ten guided boat dives. The Long Weekend advertises seven guided dives around the area, but the exact site and vessel plan is set locally. Ask the team if boat entry style, ladder access or a specific mobility need would affect your participation.
How long is the boat ride to the sites?
There is no single journey time because docks, site selection, the vessel and conditions vary. Abyss describes Paul’s Rock as commonly around a 30-minute run from the main Havannah Harbour departure area, but that is a site estimate, not the transit time for every dive. Ask for the confirmed daily arrangements closer to departure.
Can I request an easy reef dive without strong current?
Tell Abyss before booking if currents, depths or boat entries concern you, and repeat your preference to the local guide. Moso has sheltered reef options as well as exposed walls and drift profiles. The guide selects a suitable site and route for the day; an individual can decline a dive that exceeds their comfort, but a particular shallow site or separate private guide needs confirmation rather than an assumption.
Can I dive around Moso while staying independently in Port Vila?
Abyss Vanuatu says it can discuss a private-bus transfer from Port Vila or explain how to reach it by public bus. Tell the team where you are staying and when you hope to dive. Abyss’s public trip pages advertise multi-night group holidays rather than a priced one-day dive, so confirm that a separate dive place is actually available, who books it, the transfer price or bus instructions, equipment, start and return times before you travel.
What does a normal Moso dive day look like?
Abyss Vanuatu says its usual day boat picks up guests at about 9 am, after breakfast. It runs two dives with a beach stop between them for light food such as fruit, biscuits and noodles, then returns guests to their accommodation at roughly 2 pm. Friday’s included night dive, weather, site choice and transport can change this rhythm. The trip pages list between-dive snacks; check your confirmed inclusions if you need a full lunch.
How long is each dive and do we return to shore between dives?
The normal two-dive day uses a beach surface interval rather than a return to the accommodation between dives. Actual underwater time depends on the briefing, air use, conditions, computer, buddy and group procedures; it is not guaranteed by the 9 am–2 pm day outline. Ask ahead if you need a particular shore facility or a fixed return time.
How many divers are on each boat or with each guide?
Abyss Vanuatu describes a custom dive boat with capacity for 12 divers, a sun shade and twin 150 hp engines; the Long Weekend also caps the trip group at 12 divers. The team says it dives in small guided groups, but has not given a fixed guide-to-diver ratio or confirmed boat allocation for each departure. Ask about the actual guide arrangement or a specific facility if it affects your decision.
What should I tell Abyss if getting on or off a dive boat may be difficult?
Mention any mobility, balance, knee, back or strength limitation before paying, even if you can dive comfortably once in the water. The local boat is described as a 12-diver custom vessel with shade, but its exact boarding steps, ladder, entry and exit procedure, toilet and assistance arrangements have not been confirmed for every departure.
